Apollo Group TV on a MAG box

A MAG box uses no username or password. It is tied to its own MAC address, so that is registered first and the portal fills after.

Register the MAC address

It is on the sticker under the box and in System Settings, in the form 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX. WhatsApp it to us before anything else; nothing loads until it is registered.

Find the portal settings

  1. 1.With the box booted, open Settings, or press SETUP or SET on the remote.
  2. 2.Go to System Settings, then Servers, then Portals.

Enter the portal

  1. 1.Portal 1 Name: any name.
  2. 2.Portal 1 URL: the address we sent you on WhatsApp.
  3. 3.Press OK to save.

Set the clock and restart

  1. 1.In System Settings, open the time or NTP section.
  2. 2.Type in us.pool.ntp.org, or pool.ntp.org outside North America.
  3. 3.Leave the settings and choose Restart Portal.
Note. An empty guide on a MAG usually means the time server was never set. Without the right time the box cannot match programs to channels.

MAG boxes are tied to their MAC, which is why the address is step one. Formuler boxes do the same through MYTV Online, and BuzzTV boxes use a near-identical portal setup. Check the channel list before buying hardware.
